(How) is this program certified?

Life Navigation© offers two certification opportunities issued by PositivePsychology.com: (1) a certificate for every masterclass you finish and (2) a printable, digital Certificate of Completion after completing all of the masterclasses in the program.

Do I need experience in practicing positive psychology to take part in this program?

A formal or informal training background in positive psychology is not essential in order to follow this program. We have a broad range of customers that include teachers, psychologists, life coaches, HR specialists, business leaders, and fitness coaches, etc. Needless to say, the more experience you have in coaching or practicing positive psychology, the better the foundation you have to build on during and after this training.

What is the degree of difficulty of this program?

Intermediate. Because this program introduces a new coaching method, you will develop a new set of skills to navigate the positive psychology landscape and apply what is required for your specific setting. This gives those who are new to the field a head-start and provides experts a new modality to add to their professional arsenal.

Is this program only available online?

This program is 100% online, with videos and digital materials that you can download at any time. However, if you are more of a 'hands-on' learner, we also offer a hardcopy version of Life Navigation©, which you can find in our store.

Is this program science-based?

Yes. All the content for this program has been developed by academics with both a scientific and practical background. Extensive science-based handbooks are also provided that include all references and credits to the work of researchers in the field.

Are there any deadlines for completing this program?

There are no specific time frames or deadlines for completing this program. The learning environment and materials can be accessed online in your own time and completed at your own pace from the comfort of your own home or office.

Is there a physical hardcopy of this program?

This is the digital-only version, but there there is a hardcopy available. The Life Navigation Box Set© is a hardcopy edition of this program, delivered to your doorstep in a beautifully-designed box. Please visit the store page to learn more.

I work mostly with children and adolescents. Will this program be useful for me?

This coaching method addresses human functioning at its most fundamental level. Therefore, this method is not restricted to working with any age group or target population. The sailboat metaphor is currently being used with juvenile delinquents, adults, employees, and regular coachees. As a practitioner, you can use the acquired knowledge and tools and adapt them if necessary so that they are suitable for your specific professional situation.

Are there any course credits (CE) for completing this course?

Yes! We are accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Life Navigation© equips you with 40 ICF-approved CCE units. For more information, check out the "CCE" page in the top of the menu bar.

What currency is the price in?

The price is in US dollars.

How long does this program take?

This program contains 8 masterclasses, of about 6 hours each, so it totals around 40 hours in total. It also includes additional in-depth written materials such as practitioner handbooks, client workbooks, instructions, PowerPoint slides, and more. You can choose to follow all of the modules or complete only the ones relevant to your specific professional needs. Depending on how thoroughly you choose to study the content, the material provided in this masterclass will take approximately four weeks of full-time self-study.

I work with at-risk people in a clinical setting. Is this product for me?

Yes, but in order to promote good practice, please note that you are advised to use this masterclass, guiding materials, and the coaching method introduced within the boundaries of your professional expertise. For instance, if you are a certified clinician, you are advised to use the training within your field of expertise (clinical psychology). Likewise, a school teacher may use the tools in the classroom but it would not be advisable to use the tools provided for clinical populations.

Who created this product?

Life Navigation© was designed, built, and is still being expanded, by a team of seven positive psychology academics and practitioners, with the help and expertise of some of the top researchers in the field. It’s an initiative of PositivePsychology.com, a collective dedicated to the power of positive psychology to improve lives in homes, offices, and communities everywhere. It was founded by Dr. Hugo Alberts and Seph Fontane Pennock.

What rights do I have with these materials?

Upon purchase of this product, you will be granted the Extended Usage Rights. In short, this means that you are allowed to use the materials in this masterclass and affix your own name and brand on the part of the materials aimed at the client in the context of your own business, practice, or professional services for teaching, coaching, counseling, and therapeutic purposes. Is it possible to pay in instalments?

No, unfortunately, it is not possible to pay in installments. The total amount can only be completed by credit card or PayPal on the checkout page in one go.

I live in Ethiopia, and can’t afford the money to buy your materials and attend courses. Can you arrange for me a free-access to all what I want or offer me a scholarship for online training?   Thank you for your interest in our programs. Unfortunately, we do not currently offer scholarships or price adjustments for these products (although we will sometimes run discounts/sales). As an alternative, I’d suggest taking a look at some of the training available on platforms like Coursera or Udemy, which I believe sometimes offer scholarships to receive certificates upon completion of their courses.
